I just finished reading A Book for Puchku, written by Deepanjana Pal and illustrated by Rajiv Eipe. It is about a little girl named Puchku who loves reading books more than anything else in the world. Here is my review! 📚

The characters

  • Puchku — She loves reading books more than anything else, and she also tries to make her friends understand that reading books is a good thing.
  • Dodla and Boltu — They keep telling Puchku to do something other than reading, like watching a cartoon. But Puchku rejects every effort they make to stop her from reading her books.
  • The very tall librarian — She is very kind to Puchku and calmly helps her understand.

The problem

The conflict in the story is that Puchku had read so many books that she could not find any more books to read — so she started crying. Then she thought of many things she could use as a climbing tool, like a washing line, Ma’s sari, or the chairs and tables in the room. She even tried to reach a book by climbing up with Dodla and Boltu, standing on top of each other — but they all fell down!

How it ends

In the end, the very tall librarian helped her. She lifted Puchku up high so she could reach the book on the top shelf that she could not reach by herself, and choose her books. And the best part is that Puchku keeps making another story in her own mind.

What I think ⭐

I really liked this book because Puchku loves reading just like me. It shows that you should never give up, and that a little help from a kind friend can solve a big problem. I would tell anyone who loves books to read it!
